Technician Access

When a technician needs to work on your site — replacing a camera, servicing the alarm — they may need to see your devices in their own app while they work. Technician access lets you allow that for a limited time, without adding them as a member of your site.

Find it under More → Advanced setup → Technician access (site owners and admins only — Advanced setup sits in the My site section of the More tab).

Allowing access

  1. Open Technician access and pick how long the window should stay open (default 8 hours).
  2. If your site is managed by a security company, access always goes to that company's technicians — you'll see its name in the sheet.
  3. If your site is self-managed, pick the service company from the list (only companies with registered technicians appear).
  4. Tap Allow technician access.

While the window is open, a row in the sheet shows the company and when access ends. Allowing access again extends the same window rather than opening a second one.

What the technician can do

A technician who starts work under your window gets your site in their app temporarily. They are not added to your call list, receive no notifications, and never appear in Manage Users. Their access disappears automatically when the window expires, or sooner if they finish up and end it themselves.

If the technician was sent out on a booked service job, their access is handled for them: it starts when they start the job and ends when they sign it off — no window needed from your side.

Ending access early

Tap End next to the active window row. The window closes immediately and any technicians working under it lose their temporary access. (A technician with an active service job booked on your site keeps access for that job — the job itself is the permission in that case.)
