News & Updates
News & updates is a feed from your security company: short posts about things that affect you, like a possible power failure in your area, planned maintenance on their systems, or good news such as an arrest in your neighbourhood. Your security company chooses who each post is relevant to — you only see posts aimed at your site.
The feature only appears when your security company has switched their newsfeed on. If you don't see it, they aren't using it yet.
News on the Home screen
Fresh posts (from the last week) appear as a small News & updates card carousel on the Home screen, below your groups. A post your security company pinned — such as festive-season office hours — always shows first and stays until they unpin it. Tap a card to read the full post, or See all to open the feed. When there's nothing new and nothing pinned, the section disappears completely — it never takes up space on a quiet Home screen.
Reading the feed
- Open More and, under Communities & news, tap News & updates (or tap See all on the Home carousel).
- Posts are listed newest first, pinned first. When there's a mix of categories, chips at the top (Incident, Maintenance, Resolved, Update, Good news) filter the list.
- Tap a post to read the full article — formatted text, photos, and a link if the company attached one (e.g. a municipal outage notice).
Every member of the site can read the feed — it isn't limited to owners or admins.
Push notifications
For important posts, your security company can send a one-time push notification. Tapping it opens News & updates for your site. These pushes respect your master notification toggle for the site — if you've turned notifications off for the site, you won't be disturbed.
News & updates comes from your security company to you. I'm away notices go the other way — short-lived messages about your own site (like "on holiday, keyholder away") that you or your control room set.
