Site Types
A site's type says what the record actually is — a property, a vehicle, or personal panic cover. It is not a filter label: the platform behaves differently per type (a vehicle site is located by its tracker instead of a street address in CleverCommand, a personal-cover base carries a panic app instead of premises equipment). Settings → Site types decides which of those types your team can pick when creating or editing a site, and lets you define custom types of your own.
For pure classification labels you want to filter the Sites list by — House / Business / School, regions, features — use Site fields instead. A site type changes what the record is and which parts of the site screen apply; a site field only describes it.
Built-in types

Tick or untick Vehicle and Personal (panic) to control whether they appear in the site-type pickers. Turning a type off only removes it from the pickers — existing sites of that type are untouched.
Custom types
Under Custom types, add your own — for example Medical trailer for a client whose "sites" are mobile medical units. Each custom type:
- Behaves as one of the built-in types underneath (Property, Vehicle, or Personal). This keeps the rest of the platform working normally — a custom type never invents new behaviour, it renames and trims one of the built-ins.
- Can hide site tabs that don't apply to it. Tick the tabs to hide — Hardware, Monitoring, People, Events & Reports, Guarding, Service & Billing — and sites of that type stop showing them. Overview and Details always stay. For the Medical-trailer example, hiding Monitoring removes the monitoring configuration from those sites entirely.
To add one, type the name (e.g. Medical trailer), choose what it behaves as, and click Add type. On each type's card you can rename it, change what it behaves as, and adjust the hidden tabs at any time — the changes apply to every site of that type immediately.
Deleting a custom type does not touch the sites using it. They keep the type, shown as (retired) in their Details tab until someone re-types them, and their hidden tabs come back (the hiding lived on the deleted type).
Where the types appear
- Create site — a Site type dropdown appears in the dialog whenever more than one type is on offer. With only Property enabled the dropdown is hidden and every new site is simply a property, exactly as before.
- Site Details tab — the site's type shows next to its name on the Details tab and can be changed there. On a shared site, only the primary control room can change it, like the other shared site fields.
Which types are offered — and what a custom type hides — is configured per control room. The type itself is stored on the site, so two control rooms sharing a site both see what it is; each applies its own tab-hiding rules.
