Signing in to CleverOps takes you through two steps: authenticate with your email and password, then select a VCR to work in. Once you land on the dashboard, you are seeing exactly the data relevant to your selected VCR.
CleverOps remembers your last-used VCR: when you return to the app (or re-open it as an installed PWA) with a valid session, you land directly on that VCR's dashboard -- no picker screen. The Virtual Control Rooms selection screen only appears when you have no previous selection (first sign-in, after logging out, or if your access to the remembered VCR was removed).
Step-by-Step Sign In
- Open the CleverOps URL in your browser. You will see the login screen with the CleverOps branding.
- Enter your email address in the email field.
- Enter your password in the password field.
- Click Sign in to authenticate. If you have a remembered VCR you land straight on its dashboard; otherwise you are taken to the VCR selection screen.
- Select a VCR (first time only) -- the screen shows all companies your account belongs to, each with their VCRs listed below. Use the search field to filter by VCR or company name, then click a VCR card to enter it.
- You are now on the dashboard and ready to work.
If you opened a team-invite link and were asked to sign in (or create an account) first, the invited email address is filled in for you — on the create-account form it is locked, because the invite only works for that address — and CleverOps returns you to the invite acceptance page automatically after you authenticate. You don't have to open the link a second time.
If you created your account without opening the invite link, the VCR selection screen shows a notice naming who invited you: open the link in the email or WhatsApp message they sent to accept it.
Password Recovery
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it via email:
- On the sign-in screen, click the Forgot Password link below the password field.
- Enter the email address associated with your CleverOps account.
- Check your inbox for a Reset your CleverOps password email and click Set a new password. It opens a page at auth.clevercam.co.za that works on any device.
- Click Continue, choose a new password (at least 8 characters), confirm it and click Set new password.
- On the Password updated screen click Open CleverOps and sign in with your new password.
If you do not receive the password reset email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. Contact your company administrator if the problem persists.
Switching Companies or VCRs
The top bar shows your current location as a breadcrumb: company name / VCR name, top left. Switching never requires signing out:
- Switch VCR -- click the arrows next to the VCR name. A dropdown lists the current company's VCRs (with a search field when the list is long). Click one to jump straight to its dashboard.
- Switch company -- click the arrows next to the company name. The dropdown lists every company you can access; picking a company with a single VCR takes you directly into it, while a company with several VCRs opens the Virtual Control Rooms screen scrolled to that company.
- Browse everything -- click the CleverOps logo, the company name itself, or All companies in the company dropdown to open the full Virtual Control Rooms screen.
Each Tab Keeps Its Own VCR
The address bar carries the VCR you are in as ?vcr=<id> (for example /sites?vcr=12), the same way a site page carries its site id. Two consequences:
- Refreshing a tab keeps you where you were. If you have CleverOps open in several tabs on different VCRs, reloading one no longer pulls it onto whichever VCR you switched to last in another tab.
- Copied links reopen the right VCR. Paste a CleverOps URL to a colleague and it opens on the VCR it was captured from, provided they have access to it. If they do not, they land on the Virtual Control Rooms picker.
Session and Security
- Your session will remain active as long as you keep the browser tab open and have network connectivity. CleverOps renews it in the background before it runs out, using the server's clock, so a computer whose own clock is wrong does not lose its session.
- If the session cannot be renewed -- for example it was ended from another device, or the sign-in server could not be reached for a long time -- you are returned to the sign-in screen with the message Your session ended. Sign in again to continue. The app never keeps running on a dead session.
- Wrong computer clock. If this computer's date and time are more than five minutes off, a banner at the bottom of every page says This computer's clock is about … behind (or ahead) and how to fix it in Windows. You stay signed in, but times shown in the app are off by that amount until the clock is corrected. If a session ended because of it, the sign-in screen says so.
- Always sign out when using a shared or public computer: click your avatar (top right) and choose Log out. This signs out this browser only; your CleverCommand and CleverAlert sessions on other devices stay signed in.
