Till

The till is a full-screen register over the same counter sale the invoice editor makes. The sidebar and top bar are gone; what is left is the price book on the left and the basket on the right. Tap items, take the money, hand over the receipt, start the next sale. Underneath, nothing new happens: a sale is a counter-sale invoice with its payment, an account payment is Record payment with a till in front of it, and the drawer is the cash-up.

Opening the till

Open till sits beside Counter sale on Billing → Invoices once a walk-in account is nominated under Settings → Sales & CRM → Counter sales. Someone holding Take payments & cash up without Billing & invoices (the Cashier role) sees Billing as the Payments tab alone, and finds Open till at the top of it. The till needs one of those two capabilities. Exit till at the top left goes back to Billing.

The top bar shows the control room, the Sell | Account payment switch, and your drawer chip — your name and what you have taken today. Clicking it, or My drawer, opens your cash-up.

Selling

Search the price book by name, SKU or barcode; a barcode scanner types the code and presses Enter, which adds the exact match and clears the box. Press / from anywhere to jump to the search. Quick keys above the grid are the last six items this till sold, so a front desk learns its own best sellers. Each tile shows the VAT-inclusive price and the stock on hand; an item with no selling price cannot be tapped.

The basket rail shows the customer, the lines with quantity steppers, the VAT included and the total. The customer defaults to the walk-in account; Customer… swaps in a named customer so the invoice and receipt carry their name and account, and Use walk-in account puts it back. Park sale puts the basket on hold (with an optional note for whoever picks it up) and Show lists parked sales to Resume. A parked sale is a draft invoice with no number and no stock movement; resuming removes the draft.

Take payment opens the tender step.

Taking the money

The tenders are your Counter payment types — Yoco, Cash drawer, Speedpoint 2 — each showing what it books as. Until you define any, the till offers Cash, Card and EFT.

  • Cash asks what was tendered, with quick chips for the exact amount and the next R50, R100, R200 and R1 000 boundaries, and shows the change due. The sale cannot complete on less than the amount due.
  • A card machine asks for the machine's reference, which is what ties the sale to that machine's settlement statement.
  • EFT asks for the reference on the proof shown.

Complete sale does the whole sale in one action on the server: the invoice is issued and numbered, the stock is deducted from the counter location, the payment is recorded on the chosen tender, and the invoice settles to Paid. If any part of that is refused — a stock shortfall with negative stock switched off, or your drawer already closed for today — nothing is written and the message says why.

The receipt

The receipt screen shows the slip — the lines, the total with VAT, what was paid on which tender, the change — and three pills saying what happened: the invoice number issued, stock deducted, paid on the tender. Print opens the receipt PDF for the desk printer; Email and WhatsApp / SMS send it through the same document flows as the rest of Billing; Open invoice (billing managers) opens the full record. Next sale, or Enter, clears the basket and puts the walk-in account back.

Account payment

Switch the top bar to Account payment for a customer paying their account at the counter. Find them, tick the invoices they are settling — Tick all takes the whole outstanding balance — and note anything handed over beyond that under Also paid on account. The rail shows the ticked invoices and the total; Take payment opens the same tender step, and Record payment writes one payment per ticked invoice, each capped at its balance, holds the surplus as account credit, and settles the invoices to Paid. No stock moves. The receipt screen lists a receipt per payment to print or email.

My drawer

My drawer is your own cash-up — today's takings by tender, the count, and Close my day. The drawer chip in the top bar updates after every sale. Once your day is closed the till refuses further sales into it; a billing manager reopens it from Billing → Payments → Cash-up.

What the till needs

  • A walk-in account nominated under Settings → Sales & CRM → Counter sales, or a customer picked for every sale.
  • Prices on the items you sell: the till prices from the price book and offers no discount or price override.
  • Take payments & cash up or Billing & invoices.

The basket rail drops under the price book on a screen narrower than 900px, so a tablet on the counter works as a second till.
